Trick-or-treating happens at dusk, on foot, in dark costumes. A giveaway that helps a child be seen is one a parent will put on them before they leave the driveway.
Most Halloween handouts are gone by November 1. Safety items are the exception: a reflective bag or a clip-on light gets used again on dark winter mornings at the bus stop, with your name still on it.
A reflective trick-or-treat bag does two jobs at once. Drawstring backpacks with reflective striping cost more per piece, but they go to school long after Halloween.

Wearable items are the easiest for a parent to say yes to because nothing has to be carried. Clip-on lights attach to a costume or bag, and slap bracelets go on in a second.

Safety giveaways land better with one line of context. A small card or a line on the bag such as "Be seen this Halloween, from your friends at" followed by your name ties the item to your organization without turning it into an ad.
Reflective and light-up items are in demand every October. If you are ordering close to the holiday, read our guide to last-minute Halloween orders and have a backup item in mind.
